The Townhouse
Absolutely fabulous, out of this world and around it without ever leaving this amazing hotel. Just imagine the electric atmosphere of gay Paris, the bustle of the Kasbah, the heady days of the British Raj, or an outer space experience in the Cosmos Room. These are but a few of the destinations available. All of these stunning rooms are superbly staged with authentic props and artefacts that make the fantasy journey so amazing. It has often been said Maarten and his team of staff go that extra mile for their guests which is surely an understatement to say the least.

I wonder what Queen Victoria would have made of this replica of her four-poster bed lavishly swagged with silk drapes and crowned with ostrich feathers in a large room with a beautifully draped bay window from where you get a cheeky view of the sea. The walls are hung with portraits of her family and the marble fireplace and salon chairs are the crowning glory of this unashamedly decadent piece of theatre and just like the other themed rooms, it's sensational. Breakfasting amongst potted greenery in the elegant Palm Court Dining Room completes the illusion that Ken and Phill have worked so hard to achieve.

From the outside, a smart and unassuming period townhouse in the heart of Kemp Town. Once inside, prepare to be amazed by a plethora of 50s, 60s and 70s furnishing together with objets d'art from other eras that make this super and unique guest house so very special. Each bedroom has its own genre: comfy leather sofas, club chairs, antique floral basins, risqué artwork, opulent fabrics and gilt mirrors all vying for attention. The crowning glory is the breakfast room, a temple to an English early sixties café. A pleasingly quirky, contemporary pad created by The Snooze Crew

Paskins Town House
I cannot decide which aspect of Paskins I find most appealing, whether it is the two fine town houses it occupies or the vibrant palate of the decor. There is of course the famous art deco breakfast room which is simply stunning, the individuality of the bedrooms, the incredibly good food, and Roger and Co's ethically responsible approach to the environment. How cool can it be to arrive and relax in such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that bears not a hint of dust nor slavish attitudes to style.
